Project Statement
Background
I am doing an illustration for an editorial in BBC News, “The Dominoes of the Iran War”. There is a lot of turmoil with the U.S., Israel, and Iran right now and there is much talk of war with Iran. It’s not about if it will happen, it’s when it will happen. This illustration not only means a lot to me as an illustrator, but it is important for the public to be informed of what’s happening with international relations.
Target Audience
Everyone needs to stay informed about what is going on in the world around them. This illustration is for the public of every nation.
Objectives
I want my audience to know what is going on with the U.S., Israel, and Iran right now. The dispute over oil, territory, and nuclear weapons is a serious subject that could change the entire world.
Obstacles
The main obstacle is to portray a serious topic like war, but keep it light enough so that the viewer isn’t weighed down by the propensity that war brings about between people.
Key Benefit
The audience will be more informed about the relations of the U.S., Israel, and Iran.
 Support Statements
Although war is a harsh topic, citizens of every nation need to know what is happening in the world in which they live. Knowledge is power, so if more people knew what was going on, they could be empowered to actually do something about it and make the relations better between these countries.
Tone
The tone is serious and political, but kept at a light, cartoonish feel.
Media
This illustration would be published in BBC news online and also aired on the BBC news channel. There could also be flyers and posters printed if this editorial illustration turned into a Public Ad Campaign (PAC).
Creative Considerations
Illustrating a topic for such a large audience needs to be carefully considered as to not offending anyone. Courtesy towards other nationalities customs should be considered in the illustration. This will be printed in all official native languages for every country.
